Fabulous Victorian English Electrotype Jewelry Box c.1860

An outstanding antique English silver plated Electrotype jewellery box with deep relief scenes all around and to the lid. The top has a scene of gentlemen on horseback and around the sides, there are various rural scenes of dancing, tavern scenes and the like which would no doubt tell a story.

The front of the lid has a charming shield shaped cartouche to the front supported each side by a winged cherub or putti figure.

The lid when opened reveals the casket having been lined in red velvet. The box stands on four decorative feet and the underside marked with the makers initials AB inside a lozenge, I think for the silversmith ALBERT J. BEARDSHAW & CO.

Excellent condition with tiny spots of copper showing through on some of the high spots. Measures 6" x 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" tall.
