Rare Antique Figural Pen or Nib Wipe - Cockerel or Rooster c.1870

The top of his head is mounted with three pieces of felt-like fabric used to absorb the excess ink from a traditional dip pen, the fabric looks to be all original with some ink stain from usage.

The bird is blessed with two large and vibrant original glass eyes.

An exceptional and highly collectible Victorian desk accessory. Excellent condition, measuring 3 1/2" x 2 3/4" x 2 1/2" tall.
