Fabulous Antique Carved Fruitwood French Poodle Inkwell - Dog

Quite exceptional, this Victorian inkwell dates to around 1880 and probably French in origin. A good size, the dog is skillfully carved from ebonised Fruitwood in the form of a French hunting poodle; he retains his two tiny glass eyes.

To the front is a heavy cut crystal inkwell sitting in a brass cradle and sporting a brass "Crown" on top, very regal and quite splendid.

All in excellent condition. The poodle measures 7 1/2" long (nose to tail) and stands 4 1/4" tall.
