Gouache on paper, 9 1/2" by 7 3/4" (16 1/2" by 14" as framed), signed at lower left in pencil by the listed California and Illinois artist MARGO ALEXANDER (1894-1965). This is a whimsical scene of a flowering tree, with two birds in the scene as well, one with long flowing tail feathers. The artist studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and exhibited at the Golden Gate International Exposition in 1939. Subject matter is often whimsical, such as young children in colorful costumes. Prints of her work are commonly encountered, but originals are somewhat more scarce. Condition of this work is excellent and wall-ready. The frame has a loss at bottom and at upper right. Shipping wizard figures are guesstimates. SEE HUNDREDS OF OTHER WORKS NOW IN MY SHOP.
