NELSON COOK WHITE (1900-1989) Marine art clipper ship watercolor painting

Watercolor, 9 7/8" by 14" inside the mat (16 1/2" by 20 1/2" as framed), signed at lower right "N. White". This is a work showing, no doubt, the clipper ship Joseph Conrad, berthed at the Mystic Seaport in Connecticut. The clipper was built in Denmark in 1882 and was renamed as the Joseph Conrad. It was built strictly as a training ship. The artist painted a lot of marine subject matter, and a number of these works have appeared at auction in New England. Shipping wizard figures are guesstimates. SEE HUNDREDS OF OTHER WORKS INCLUDING OTHER MARINE ART, IN MY RUBY LANE SHOP.
