Lithograph, 8 3/8" by 19 1/2" (16" by 27" as framed), signed at right by the well-known artist PIERRE ALECHINSKY (1927-), numbered 17/100 (17/200)??---hard to read---and inscribed in ball point pen along the bottom by the artist: "A Monsieur et Madame Arnold L. Gindsburg pour leur gentille collaboration (can't read) de L'Art Club of Chicago" and dated "le 26 5 65". This is a modern image of dream-like creatures and faces of the imagination. The artist is a major figure in late 20th century art's CoBra movement. His oils sell for significant amounts of money at major sales by Sotheby's, Christie's and elsewhere. This print is in clean condition with exception of a creased upper right corner. I have not viewed it out of the frame but someone who did said it was printed on what appeared to be some kind of poster---in any event, something is actually printed on the reverse side apparently. I am afraid to open this up as it would be difficult to reassemble but will do so upon request. I have attempted to determine the title of the work but did not see it in the books I perused on Alechinsky's work, and I do not have access to a catalog raisonne.
