LEONID BORISOVICH YANUSH (1897-1978) Russian art 1951 impressionist forest landscape signed painting

Oil on canvas, 18 1/4" by 27 1/2" plus 3 1/2" wood frame, signed at lower right by the artist in Cyrillic and dated "51". I am told by several readers of Russian that the signature is that of Russian impressionist LEONID BORISOVICH YANUSH (1897-1978). This is a finely executed work. Quite underrated currently, the artist was definitely professionally trained and very talented, judging from the few works I have seen online. One piece, an autumn scene, sold recently at auction in Sweden for over $3,000. It appears that he is not yet all that well known but further scholarship could reveal more about his life and work. Condition is good with heavy soiling especially in the sky making a straightforward cleaning a good investment for the buyer. There might also be a little paint loss in that upper sky area, but not a lot. Ask for more photos. There is faint pencil writing on the stretcher which I am told means "The Forest" in Russian, and some other faint writing. In addition there is a small triangular stamp on the canvas and another stamp on the reverse as well. See photo. Russian art is white hot currently and prices are rising astronomically for works by the better known artists, as Russia buys back its cultural heritage that fled under Communism.
