BYRON ALBEE listed Boston artist American 19th century watercolor landscape painting

Hudson River School style watercolor on paper, 13 1/2" by 19" inside the mat, 24" by 30" as framed, signed at lower right "Byron Albee". This is a subtle, delicate, beautifully executed watercolor of trees and a line of stones next to a pond. Because it IS so subtle, it doesn't photograph well; but in person it's much more impressive. It has survived the years in excellent condition with only a bit of well balanced overall browning of the paper. The painting is not dated and I don't see birth/death dates for the artist, but I'd guess it dates to the late 19th century. The artist is listed in Davenport's and Who Was Who and on Askart, but there isn't a lot of detail on him, other than that he was a member of the Boston Art Club. This was found on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Frame is old and battered, I can send photos of it on request. SEE HUNDREDS OF OTHER WORKS OF ART IN MY SHOP.
