ROBERT SPRINGFELS 20th century figural art mixed media drawing listed artist

This is a powerful study of a man, in pencil, chalk, and gouache, signed at lower right by artist ROBERT SPRINGFELS. The drawing is on paper laid on masonite. Measurements are 28 5/8" by 22 3/4" and a 1 1/4" wood frame with considerable character and patina. There is a printed out note on the reverse which states that the artist exhibited at the Butler Art Institute of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio in 1965. A google search shows his work is also included in the permanent collection of that institution, but otherwise I can't find a lot of information on this obviously talented artist. This work should appeal to the art lover who seeks depictions of the human form. Condition is good, with original tack holes on edges and it appears lower right extreme corner was a little ragged BEFORE it was laid down long ago, so it appears to be sort of original to the work if that makes sense! The paper is a little puckered in several areas, no doubt due to its being laid a board like it is. Email me for more photos. Shipping wizard figures are guesstimates.
