American late 19th century art still life painting apples and pitcher

Oil on canvas, circa 1870-1890, measuring 10" by 16" (12 1/2" by 18 1/2" as framed), unsigned, showing a metai pot with green and red apples, a pitcher, and a glass, in the classic style of nineteenth century American still life art. I wish the artist had signed his or her work, as he or she was quite skilled. The painting has a patch on the reverse, approximately 3 1/2" by 2", corresponding to a repair in the red apple. It is acceptable as is to the casual observer of the painting but could be redone if you wanted to invest some money in restoration. There is a fair amount of dust on the painting and some show through of the stretcher, and a minor abrasion or two. The modern frame is not attractive. I'd suggest a bright gold classic wide frame. It would not be surprising to me were this the work of a well known painter, but without a signature we may never learn the artist's identity. SEE HUNDREDS OF OTHER PAINTINGS IN MY SHOP.
