Watercolor on paper painting of dunes on a shoreline, most likely to be in Indiana or Michigan (Lake Michigan), signed at lower right by listed Midwest artist VICTOR CASENELLI (1867-1961). Casenelli is best known for his Henry Farny or John Hauser-style western paintings of indians and tipis and horses, and those works generally bring the highest prices at auction, but he also painted landscapes of the Midwest. From Michigan, he obviously knew the woodlands and shores of the big lake, as is demonstrated by this beautifully executed work on paper. The watercolor is fresh and not faded and there's no foxing, though there is a small light brown crescent-shaped mark at the water's edge. Speckles in the water at right center are old dirt accumulations on inside of the glass, not damage. SEE HUNDREDS OF OTHER PAINTINGS, DRAWINGS AND PRINTS NOW IN MY RUBY LANE SHOP.
