Watercolor on paper drawing, 17 1/2" by 23 1/2" (26" by 32 1/2" framed), of a New Orleans Vieux Carre neighborhood's old narrow houses, signed at lower right and dated '62, by the well listed Louisiana artist ROLLAND HARVE GOLDEN (1931-). The watercolor is large and of an early date, and the subject matter is classic New Orleans. Golden is known for his Louisiana landscapes, often executed in watercolor, and often featuring roads, with which he has a fascination. The artist studied with the important southern regionalist John McCready. For many years he has been a familiar name among the regionalist artists of the South. Works by Golden appear frequently at auctions of fine southern art. This is a fine regionalist work worthy of inclusion in any collection of Southern American art. The condition is excellent. See also a print by the artist in my shop, and a pencil drawing. SEE HUNDREDS OF PAINTINGS, DRAWINGS AND PRINTS IN MY SHOP.
