Vaguely n the style of Icart, and dating from that period, is this decorative print, 21 1/2" by 17" framed, featuring a young woman in bonnet, with a white cat and a curious tortoise in the foreground, signed in pencil below the mat by Art Deco period boudoir artist J. Hemiey. Hemiey's name is included in discussions of art produced during the time of Icart's dominance, but little seems to be known of the former. This is copyrighted 1925 near the bottom edge and there is found also "E.J.S. Mfg. Co.". The print can be displayed for decorative purposes but the right edge of the oval has been cut vertically, under the mat, so done to fit framing no doubt, and there is some old splash of liquid, perhaps coffee, the evidence visible at right.
