This is a typical work of the California-associated artist who went by the "copyright brush name" of "MIMI JOY" (real name Mabel C. Heyde, according to the Hughes' dictionary of artists in California). It is executed in pastel (or, oil pastel?) and measures 10 1/2" by 8 3/4" in its original white circa 1950's framing. There is a label of the artist on the reverse backing. The artist's style is easily recognizable, as she consistently produced floral works in pastel, generally of small size, and all boldly signed in this manner. I have owned a number of them over the years and they are popular. This one is in excellent condition.
