Gouache painting on paper laid on board, unframed, 10" by 15", the subject a classic side view of a stylized American Indian chief with headdress, the logo of the Santa Fe Railroad at upper right. The artist signed it at lower right "Franciene Watkins". I do not see a listing for the name, although on google there is a mention of a woman by this name as associated with the Oscars history. Clearly this was used for advertising, perhaps a poster or calendar or flyer. The number "4" is written in red on the front by her signature. Condition is good considering the circa 1940 age, with some stubbed, fraying corners. Framed, this will make an interesting addition to your Southwestern art collection.
