Watercolor on paper painting of an old home in the northeast, deep in winter snow, under a full moon, evergreens surrounding the home and casting shadows on the snow. This 5" by 7 1/4" work (10 1/4" by 12 3/8" as framed) is signed at lower right "Bierhals". At first I thought this a work by the impressionist painter Otto Bierhals (1879-1944), who was born in Nurnberg, Germany and lived into the 1940's (I see various different death dates listed). He was a painter and illustrator for pulp magazines. Now I have come to believe that this is actually a work by his talented wife, Agnes Baskin-Bierhals (1893-1976), a talented painter and printmaker in her own right, and also like her husband, associated with the Woodstock school in New York state. Works by the two artists are sometimes confused. This example is in excellent condition. Shipping wizard figures are guesstimates. SEE HUNDREDS OF WORKS OF ART NOW IN MY SHOP.
