CLIFF BARNES (1940-) contemporary American western art original charcoal drawing

Original charcoal drawing, 33" by 24" as framed, dated on the reverse February 1984 and bearing there a label with the Lake Arrowhead (California) address, and signed lower right by the contemporary western American artist and illustrator CLIFF BARNES (1940-). Barnes has been painting and drawing for many years; by 1982 he was already listed in the definitive "Contemporary Western Artists" by Harold Samuels. Barnes, in his early 70's, is an active artist, exhibiting in shows around the western states and winning a number of awards. In 2012 he won the Best of Show award from the American Plains Artists. Barnes maintains a website which includes a short biography, news of upcoming appearances, and images of available works. The artist works in oil, charcoal and conte crayon. His style is realistic, though with an impressionistic edge. This drawing in charcoal also features some fine "scratching out" which adds interesting texture and enhances the reality. This drawing is in excellent, fresh condition and is ready to hang on the wall. Note the colorful hand drawn decorative mat (possibly painted by the artist himself, I believe). This is a fine drawing by an obviously trained and skilled hand, worthy of display in any gallery of contemporary Western American art. Shipping wizard figures are guesstimates.
