LOVIS CORINTH (1858-1925) pencil signed etching "Portrait of Hermann Struck" by highly important German artist

By the highly important German impressionist and expressionist artist LOVIS CORINTH (1858-1925) is this soft-ground etching, 9" by 6 1/2" inside the present mat, the size as framed 20" by 15 1/2", titled "Portrait of Hermann Struck", signed in pencil by the artist in the lower right margin and by the printer Heinrich Wetterroth at lower left margin (along with other difficult to decipher information, written in fine pencil), and dated in the plate at upper right "1911". The artist is considered one of the giants of German 20th century art. One work has exceeded $1 million at auction and many have sold in the multiple hundreds of thousands. Thankfully, his graphic work is much more affordable. Corinth was born in East Prussia. He studied in Konigsberg and Munich, then Paris, where he was a pupil of Bougereau and Robert-Fleury. In 1892 he joined the Berlin Sezession, eventually succeeding Max Liebermann as president. In 1902 he married a younger woman who became his muse and mother of several children. The year this print was created---possibly, only a few months later, in December 1911---Corinth suffered a stroke which affected for a time his ability to create art. Actually, some of his best work, and much of his prolific graphic output, post-dated the stroke. Today Corinth's oil paintings showing the Walchensee in the Bavarian Alps are highly prized, as are his self portraits. It is believed he created some 900 prints, many in the last fifteen years of his life. This image is from "Sieben Radierungen von Lovis Corinth" ("Seven Etchings by Lovis Corinth). The subject is the well-known German Jewish artist Hermann Struck (1867-1944), who actually taught Corinth much about the technique of soft-ground etching. I have not examined this out of the frame but would be happy to do so. It appears clean and fresh inside the present mat, with possible old faint traces of mat browning in the margins and the plate mark area. The work came directly from the dispersal of the collection of a prominent member of the Jewish community in Los Angeles, recently deceased. Shipping wizard figures are guesstimates.
