Oil on canvas painting of the historic building "Vista House", located on a stunning promontory overlooking the Columbia River Gorge, 18" by 28" (24" by 34" framed), signed at lower left "M. Bixler" and dated there 1920. The view was apparently painted just a few years after the building was dedicated in the year 1917. Nearly a century later, it remains an historic landmark and regional architectural and scenic treasure, now even more spectacular than it was in its youth, after a recent top-down renovation and preservation project was completed. The artist does not appear to have a listing, though focused research will doubtless turn up some information. Presently the painting is stable, clean and ready to hang, as it apparently underwent a renovation/preservation of its own, the work having been relined not long ago. There is a tiny disturbed area, not really a puncture, at right center. The frame is not especially complementary; a silvery frame might really enhance the presentation.
