Charcoal on paper drawing of three female nude figures, 13" by 6 1/2" inside the mat, 20 1/4" by 13 1/2" as framed, signed at lower left by the listed Jewish artist BEN-ZION MAGAL (1908-1999). This is a fine drawing by a talented artist who was born in Russia early in the century, immigrating to Palestine before World War II. He settled in Haifa in 1933 with his new wife, and eventually went on to become one of the founders of the Haifa Association of Artists, the Israel Association of Painters and Sculptors, and the Ein-Hod artistic village near Haifa. Magal (Magalnik, sometimes, and his date of death is sometimes given as 1995) painted and drew the Israeli landscape and genre scenes of people and animals, drawing from his rich earliest memories of Jewish life and tradition in the shtetl. This drawing is fresh from a Beverly Hills estate and is in excellent condition.
