ONE OF TWELVE FLINT PRINTS I OWN, ALL TO BE EVENTUALLY LISTED IN MY SHOP, this is a fresh and clean example of one of William Russell Flint's fine photolithographs issued for collectors over a period of decades. This example, published in 1957 in an edition of 700, is signed in pencil at lower right and bears the characteristic embossed blindstamp in lower left margin. The title is "Rosa and Marissa". The print measures 18 3/4" by 24 3/4" inside the mat and 27" by 33 1/2" as framed. The two models, artistically placed at opposite sides of the image, provide for a visual tension; the images are a celebration of female beauty, of femininity. WILLIAM RUSSELL FLINT (1880-1969) was a very talented and popular artist who is today best known for his superb draftsmanship and watercolor skills, his favorite subject being beautiful women in various stages of nudity against architectural or scenic settings. Flint's best original works command huge sums at auction in London. While he also worked in oil, it is the watercolors that are most coveted by collectors. This print is very clean, and ready for the wall in its simple yet elegant frame and fine mat with hand drawn lines. This print and most of the others I will be listing came out of one Malibu estate. The former owners acquired a print from Harrod's each time they visited London, eventually forming a large collection. Allow for reflections in some images. SEE HUNDREDS OF OTHER WORKS IN MY SHOP.
