MARC CHAGALL (1887-1985) original lithograph in colors "Nice Soleil Fleurs" 1962 edition of 5000

This is a desirable early 1960's poster work created by Chagall for the tourism authority in southern France, the work titled "Nice Soleil Fleurs", by Charles Sorlier after Marc Chagall, printed by Mourlot in Paris in a unnumbered edition of 5000 examples. The work is currently framed under glass in a metal frame, the dimensions as framed 39 1/2" by 24 3/4". Chagall (1887-1985) needs little introduction, as one of the most famous artists of the 20th century, and an artist very well known for his printmaking and dream-like imagery of Jewish life. I have not examined this out of the frame, since to take this apart might mean considerable difficulty in reassembling it; but the work does not appear to be laid down, as there is mild rippling of the paper, suggesting it floats free under the glass. The colors MIGHT be slightly attenuated, I can't be sure as I have not seen other examples of the print except on the internet. I do see a small edge tear at upper right (see photo), (possibly stabilized professionally, as the area photographs as a slightly different color), and with very close observation one can notice some discoloration in the margins, some blocky areas appearing to be whiter than the surrounding paper; but this really requires you to look. Overall it appears to be a nice, original example in quite acceptable and presentable condition. ALLOW FOR A FEW REFLECTIONS IN THE GLASS ESPECIALLY AT UPPER RIGHT. This print has auctioned in Europe to about the $1500 area. Shipping might be safest if rolled in a tube; email to discuss. SEE HUNDREDS OF OTHER WORKS OF ART NOW IN MY SHOP.
