A. J. MUNNINGS (1878-1959) highly important British equestrian sporting art PENCIL SIGNED print

Photolithograph print titled at bottom "Portrait of Major F. Bouch, MFH with the Belvoir Hounds, from the original painting by Sir Alfred Munnings", 21 1/4" by 24 3/4" inside the mat (30 1/2" by 34" in a silvery modern frame), PENCIL SIGNED at lower right margin by the highly important and famous English painter of all equestrian subjects, SIR ALFRED MUNNINGS (1878-1959). The handsome subject is a most formal horseman in his red coat, sitting atop his mount in a landscape, surrounded by the hounds. This print was issued by the firm Frost and Reed, Ltd., in 1956. The firm produced these fine prints after Munnings' paintings since the 1920's or 1930's. This relatively late example, dating to only three years before the artist's death, has survived in excellent condition, with no foxing and fresh colors, the paper not browned. Pencil signed examples are highly sought after, as original drawings and paintings by Munnings are very expensive indeed, some paintings having reached into the millions of dollars. Photos are fuzzy as this is currently framed behind the old style non-glare glass, which dulls the image. The actual condition appears excellent. Shipping wizard figures are guesstimates.
