Pastel on paper drawing of an attractive young blue-eyed, red-haired girl in white blouse with aqua bandana, apparently unsigned, 18 1/4" by 15" inside the mat, 25 1/2" by 22 1/4" in a modern gold frame with blue green mat and inner fillet. The drawing was purchased recently in Newport, Rhode Island, the seller telling me it came out of an estate there, where it was suggested to him that the artist was Rhode Island impressionist artist Helena Sturtevant (1872-1946), but it is unlikely that that could be confirmed. I've opened this up and do not see any signature, writing or label that would help to identify the obviously trained, and likely, listed, artist. The appealing subject, with pouty, pursed red lips, stares directly at the viewer, her youthful beauty evident for all to see. Were a famous name artist to be identified as the creator of this beautiful and accomplished work, it would hang in the finest gallery or sell in an auction for a large sum of money. Even without a signature it is very obviously a fine example of American art circa 1915. The condition is excellent, as it has been handled carefully over the decades and is as fresh as the day it was created. The frame though modern is clean and complementary. This is a special portrait work that will grace the finest home. Photos were taken through non-glare glass, which tends to reduce detail. Framed with regular glass the drawing would appear even more spectacular. Shipping wizard figures are guesstimates. SEE HUNDREDS OF OTHER WORKS NOW IN MY SHOP.
