AGNES GABRIELLE TAIT (1894-1981) New Mexico art pencil signed lithograph "Nousho Child"

Lithograph on paper of a Navajo girl of the Southwest cradling two small lambs in a southwestern landscape featuring covered wagons, cowboys on horseback and snowy distant peaks, 10" by 12" inside the mat, 16 3/4" by 21" as simply framed, signed in pencil at lower right margin by the well-known woman artist AGNES GABRIELLE TAIT (1894-1981). The work is titled "Nousho Child" and was printed in a limited edition circa 1940's or early 1950's, (original Associated American Artists label included, though it is not on the original backing). Tait was born in New York but is now most closely associated with New Mexico and the Southwest. Her early art education included the National Academy of Design school (Leon Kroll was an early teacher) and the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. Tait went on to become a book illustrator, easel painter, plein air painter, and printmaker. Using a wide range of materials, she also covered the gamut with varied subject matter including portraits, landscapes, animal subjects (cats a favorite) and still life. Today her works sell at many fine galleries in the southwestern states. This print is in very good condition, with edge browning from the mat, and even oxidation browning. I have not examined it out of the frame but would be happy to do so upon request. Shipping wizard figures are guesstimates. SEE HUNDREDS OF OTHER WORKS NOW IN MY SHOP.
