Watercolor on paper laid on board, 12 3/4" by 10" as framed, circa early 20th century, signed at lower right "F.A. Bolton". This appears to be a work by a listed artist, Francis A. Bolton. Though the scene is English, I suppose the artist could conceivably have been American; the listing is not detailed, but I see at least one other watercolor painting by the artist online. According to a most helpful, geographically knowledgeable gentleman in England, this is a scene in Warwick. The main structure is the old medieval West Gate in the old wall of the town. The half timbered structure is the Lord Leyster Hospital, a well known local tourist attraction. The painting is in a circa 1920 frame. Condition is good, with some light soiling typical of its age. The frame has some missing chips at lower left.
