SAMUEL ELDON HOMSEY (1904-1994) Paris watercolor painting Place de la Concorde by listed Delaware artist

Watercolor on paper painting of some of the famous architecture surrounding the landmark plaza in Paris, 13" by 16 1/4" inside the drawn border, signed at lower right by the artist and titled at lower left "Place de la Concorde--Paris--1932". The painting was executed while the artist SAMUEL ELDON HOMSEY (1904-1994) was a young man. Homsey is listed, in Who Was Who in American Art and elsewhere, but there does not seem to be a lot of information on his life. He is associated with the Wilmington, Delaware area, and was educated at MIT. Apparently he was a contributor to architectural magazines and was a lecturer. Who Was Who shows he exhibited at the Associated American Art Galleries in 1940, and was a member of the Delaware Art Club and Wilmington Society of Fine Art in 1936. This work is a survivor. I found it unframed, the margins fraying, and old water damage in the sky, which though unfortunate is not fatal. Trim the margins, frame it, and preserve it the way it deserves to be preserved. If you like art featuring Paris and its famous sights, you should like this fine work in watercolor. Note the 1930's vehicles at lower left.
