EUGENE VEDER (1876-1936) pencil signed color etching of Notre Dame and the Seine by noted French printmaker

Color etching of Notre Dame cathedral in Paris as viewed from the south bank of the Seine River, 15 1/2" by 11 3/4" as simply framed, pencil signed by the artist in the margin at titled "Absade de Notre-Dame" at bottom center, and numbered 100 at lower right corner. This is a charming scene of the late 1920's, showing barges, a wheelbarrow, and a lone fisherman with his pole---quaint genre along the river at that time. The artist, EUGENE VEDER (1876-1936) was a very talented printmaker in Paris, his career reaching an apex in the late 1920's, judging from the works he left behind for history. Born in St. Germain-en-Laye near Paris, he never strayed far from her, observing the physical city and its picturesque inhabitants. By the early 1920's Veder was winning medals for his work, and in 1927 his masterwork, "Paris: Cinquante eaux-fortes en couleurs" (Paris, Fifty etchings in colors) was published. The scenes contained in the set were the familiar and much-loved ones to which people from all over the world still flock today. There is not a lot of biographical information on Veder, but he was a prolific printmaker and apparently was very hands-on in the printing process, insisting that he and he alone pull each print. This example is in fine condition and is ready to grace the wall of the next admirer of the City of Lights. Shipping wizard figures are guesstimates. SEE HUNDREDS OF OTHER WORKS NOW IN MY SHOP.
