This is a striking oil on canvas painting in a high-keyed palette of blues, whites, greens, and a touch of peach, signed at lower right with what appears to be the signature "Wm Gee". Measuring 24 1/2" by 24 1/2" as simply framed, the scene has a modernist feel, mixing with impressionism. In the distance are some towers that could be a cathedral, with some unexplained spires at left. It is possible I think that this could be a view from the hilly center of San Francisco, near UCSF, or from the Presidio there, but that would be just a guess. I have looked extensively and cannot locate an artist by the name of William Gee, if I indeed read the name correctly. The artist was obviously talented, though, and this painting will make its next owner very happy. There is a small pressure dimple at bottom center, visible most easily from the reverse side, but it is really not noticeable from the front. .
