Watercolor on heavy watercolor paper, 10 1/2" by 14 1/4" inside the mat, 19" by 22" as framed, not signed, the subject a coconut palm at left, with a schooner-type sailboat in the distance beyond a narrow spit of land, a white gull overhead. The work probably dates to the 1950's or early 1960's. The framing paper on the reverse looks to be of about that age, and there's an old label with the address of the former owner (or possibly, the artist, as "NFS"---"not for sale"---appears at the end of the inscription): "L. W. A. Meyer/1508 Belmeade Dr./Kingsport 245-3572/Bimini/water color NFS". According to google earth there is such an address in Kingsport, Tennessee. The painting was purchased in Florida. As breezy tropical decorative art, it should be able to easily find a new home. The watercolor is loose/slipping (I had to hold it tightly to get the shot of it with the frame) so will have to be re-affixed, and the old mat needs to be replaced in any event. .
