OLIVE BOHANNON 1943 WPA style listed American art portrait of seated young woman
Oil on canvas (32" by 25", unframed) by listed (see Who Was Who in American Art) American female artist OLIVE BOHANNON. The painting is signed and dated at lower left and signed again, as well as titled on the reverse: "Waiting In Vain".The paint is thickly applied, especially in the area of the woman's hair, bow, and blouse. CONDITION: The painting is loose on the stretchers. There is stiffened buckling of the canvas at upper left, as well as some scattered light paint loss, principally in the red background area, especially where the stretcher bars are.
