Original lithograph print, "Six Baigneuses", circa 1920's, 9 1/2" by 13 1/4" inside the mat, by the famous French modern artist RAOUL DUFY (1877-1953), the scene a number of female nudes swimming in a turbulent sea. The work, one of an edition of only 33 plus artist proofs, is pencil signed by Dufy at lower right. Raoul Dufy is a modern artist of considerable fame, his major works bringing well into six figures at major international auctions, Dufy was born in Le Havre. He was exposed early on to the works of major painters and the art movements to which they were associated, such as Fauvism, but managed to create his own unique, identifiable style. Dufy was a friend of Othon Friesz, and was exposed to Matisse, Cezanne, Lhuillier, and other major French artists of the early 20th century. I note some light foxing or soiling, There is a blind stamp "Galerie Des...." at lower right corner. The work was said by the Maine seller to have been obtained years ago from Associated American Artists in New York City, an organization best known for its promotion of twentieth century American artists' graphic work. **PHOTOS ARE TEMPORARY**.
