FROYLAN OJEDA (1932-1991) Mexican art surrealist modern painting by listed surrealist artist

Acrylic on canvas, 39" by 31" (100 cm. by 80 cm.), the subject an ethereal apparently non-Hispanic young woman in a feminine, high-necked, almost Victorian white dress, flowers in her hair, and young babies' faces floating mysteriously at the bottom, signed at lower right by the noted Mexican surrealist painter FROYLAN OJEDA (1932-1991), and further signed again on the reverse and dated there "84". The artist in his short life created a number of surrealistic works that have surfaced at auction in Mexico, Canada, and the United States. This particular work is especially striking in its composition and execution----how the attractive young woman stands out, almost lit up, from the gray, murky background in which float the babies.......we are left to wonder about the meaning of it all. Some of Ojeda's works clearly owe a debt to Salvador Dali; and obviously he was aware of contemporary trends in the 1970's and 1980's. The work is unframed and in generally good condition with just slight soiling in a few spots and an extremely minor soft dimple near the signature. The artist is quite underrated at this point in time, considering the quality of the work. Shipping wizard figures are guesstimates. SEE HUNDREDS OF OTHER WORKS NOW IN MY SHOP.
