Oil on canvas, 28" by 31" (33" by 36" as nicely framed), the subject a mysterious and rather suggestive collection of objects, including a woman's high heel shoes, half filled glass of white wine, photos including a black and white one of a woman, roses in a vase, and a half eaten piece of cake. This beautiful and accomplished work is signed at lower right "Lebow". Amazingly, considering the lush impressionism balanced with a forceful clarity and stillness, there seems to be no listing for a recognized artist by this name. I will keep searching but in the meantime am happy to offer this painting on its own decorative merits. I've misplaced, but should be able to find, a small written label with the title, something like "Decadence after the Party", and the original price. What is going on nearby..........what kind of "decadence"? So the painting has a whimsical message and it's far from a static 1940's still life. I would guess the age as circa 1980's or later. The frame seems to have quality, with gold leaf visible, although it does exhibit some wear. The painting was acquired here in Los Angeles. .
