American 20th century pastel school landscape drawing signed GILLETTE

Pastel on paper painting of an outdoorsman cooking his dinner over an open fire alongside a creek or lake, the setting sun reflected on the waters where his boat is tied up, the work measuring 17 1/2 " by 25" (23 1/2" by 28" in its vintage circa 1920's frame). Signed at lower right "Gillette", this is by an American artist who was a member of the early century pastel school, now best known for works by William Henry Chandler, Glatthaar, Gunderson, and others. They generally created landscapes or still lifes, but other more unusual subjects appear and those appeal greatly to very specialized collectors. There is a lot of information now available on the net regarding these artists, the artistic environment in which they worked, and the styles of each artist. I believe Gillette is mentioned somewhere by name, as being a member of this "school". This piece came from a local estate and is in very good condition with minimal pastel/glass contact and no waterstaining. There might be a little browning through from the backing but it's minimal and not a distraction. Frame is rather interesting and shows a bit of wear but I wouldn't change it. Allow for reflections in glass. .
