SILVIO CONSADORI (1909-1994) double sided painting of religious subject by well listed Italian modern artist

This is a double-sided work, painted in oil on sturdy board, 32 3/4" by 22 1/2" (35 1/4" by 24 1/2" as simply framed), SIGNED ON BOTH sides by the noted Italian modern artist SILVIO CONSADORI (born Brescia 1909-died Milano 1994). Consadori is well known in Italy, his works appearing often at auctions in that country, and many museums hold his work. A monograph was recently apparently published on the centenary of his birth, and the Diocesan Museum in Milano held a retrospective. I take some information from the website of the museum, translated somewhat stiffly into English: "The museum is celebrating the centenary of the birth of Silvio Consadori (1909-1994) with an anthology that traces the key lines of his work: landscape and religious art. Consadori produces, in the latter area, deeply religious works, including large fresco cycles in the sanctuary of Saint Rita in Cascia and to Oropa, an altarpiece in the basilica delle Grazie in Milan, the portrait of the future Pope Paul VI, today at the archbishop of Milan, who commissioned him also two paintings for the chapel of the Swiss and a window for his private chapel. And the higher result: twelve frescoes in the church of St. Joseph to Rome triumphant, with reasons and evangelical events in the life of the Virgin. Consadori. Consadori, a teacher at the Brera Academy from 1940 to 1973, was attended by the various Venice Biennale, the Quadrennial in Rome, Bergamo and Permanent Award. His works are displayed in Italian museums and institutions. The Vatican Gallery hosts two of his paintings: The Sermon on the Mount and the Crucifixion. The exhibition is accompanied by extensive monograph Gualdoni Flaminio (Ed. Nomos). See the museum's website to see even more detail on the artist's life and work, though the broken Italian/English translation might be a bit unintelligible at times. Interestingly, Pope Paul VI commissioned Consadori to execute several works for his private Vatican chapel, no doubt, a high honor indeed. CONDITION: the work has a number of important condition issues, including various scuffs and light abrasions, some small areas of paint loss, and most significantly a long horizontal crease through the middle of the compositions (and visible from both sides). So, conservation will be necessary. Please view all images and feel free to request more. Shipping wizard figures are guesstimates. If you are in Italy please email me for a shipping quote.
