Watercolor on paper landscape with an abandoned lonely buckboard, 17" by 22" (21" by 27" as framed), signed at lower right by noted California artist CECIL WRAY GOODCHILD (1901-1983). Goodchild lived in Southern and Central California, where he sketched extensively and painted watercolors from those sketches. This painting has made its way around the west, with an old blue framing sticker from Reno, and I purchased it recently in New Mexico, but the artist is most closely associated with California and I'd imagine that this is a California scene. Goodchild was a familiar sight around the Pismo Beach area on the central coast for many years, and there are fascinating memories of the man posted on askart by people who encountered him. Apparently he had a penchant for using Old Spice after shave lotion. Condition is excellent, and this is ready for the wall. .
