LYND KENDALL WARD (1905-1985) wood engraving print by noted American printmaker

This is a fine print of the year 1954 by well listed American printmaker LYND WARD (1905-1985), the title being "Weeding". Measuring 14 1/2" by 8 1/2" inside the mat (22" by 15 3/4" as framed) this print is a mid-life work by an artist well recognized today especially for his achievements in the graphic arts and illustration art. He was an associate of the National Academy, and examples by his hand grace the collections of the Library of Congress and museums nationwide. A book illustrator as well, Ward experimented in a number of areas in graphic arts including etching, block printing and . The works I saw in a monograph on the artist remind me of prints by Rockwell Kent and Paul Landacre in both subject matter and that they exhibit sharp contrasts of black and white. See the net for more information on the artist. Condition is excellent. Shipping wizard figures are guesstimates. ALLOW FOR ANNOYING REFLECTIONS IN THE GLASS.
