Early to mid 19th century American firehouse windsor chair original black paint and stencil

For the collector of early and folky American furniture, here is a type of chair commonly referred to as a "firehouse" chair, made of wood, painted generally black but with yellow piping stripes along the top rail and seat, and on the legs. There is also a bit of worn red and gold on the spindles holding up the back.....forgive me if I don't use the correct terminology but I am generally an art seller, not a furniture specialist. The height is 29", the width across the arms 22", and the seat height is 16". Unfortunately there is old damage in the top portion; it seems to have been significantly broken at one time and then glued together in a number of places, one of which is now separating, as seen in the photos. There is old Hitchcock chair style stenciling in faint yellow on the back rest. The chair likely dates to as early as 1820 and as late as maybe 1850. It's a survivor, and is offered as is. The wonderful old original surface alone is worth the asking price. Ask for shipping quote or for more photos. SEE HUNDREDS OF PAINTINGS AND PRINTS IN MY SHOP.
