**ONE OF TWO I'M OFFERING BY THIS ARTIST** (see #JB01263), color aquatint on paper of what appears to be the Rhine River with hilltop castles, 6 1/2" by 9 3/4" (12 3/4" by 16 3/4" as framed), signed in pencil at lower left by noted western American artist GEORGE ELBERT BURR (1859-1939) and bearing notation "No. 8" at lower right. Burr's etchings and watercolors of the Great Southwest, especially Arizona and Colorado, are eagerly sought after by collectors. This example would probably date to the early years of the century when he was traveling in Europe. There are auction records for scenes from Italy, particularly. Condition is very good with no foxing and just basic light oxidation of the paper (and some dirty-on-the-inside glass (not examined out of frame). ALLOW FOR FALSE PINK COLORS IN IMAGES AND REFLECTIONS; ask for more photos. See the net for more information on this talented artist and his considerable ability in the graphic arts. Shipping wizard figures are guesstimates. SEE HUNDREDS OF OTHER WORKS NOW IN MY SHOP.
