Oil on canvas laid on board, 7" by 11" and 1 1/2" wide beautiful original pie crust frame in good condition, unsigned, but without a doubt the distinctive work of noted and prolific Northern California painter RICHARD DETREVILLE (one of two works by the artist in my shop). Detreville was born in South Carolina in 1864, and by the early years of the new century, he was in Stockton publishing a magazine. Shortly thereafter he was in San Francisco, represented by a gallery. The artist painted Lake Tahoe, the north coast, the Monterey area; missions, forests, extensive landscapes. Though unsigned, this is obviously one of his readily identifiable works (his color palette is like a fingerprint.......unmistakable). See close up photos for condition; difficult to describe, there are tiny pinpoint losses, for want of a better word.....they could be the result of just light "wear", also for want of a better word. I want to describe accurately but I don't think any condition issue would seriously detract from enjoyment of the painting. This would grace particularly a bungalow, mission or Arts and Crafts interior. Shipping wizard figures are guesstimates. SEE HUNDREDS OF OTHER WORKS NOW IN MY SHOP.
