Late 19th century style Colorado plains art signed dated landscape painting

Oil on canvas, 9 1/2" by 13 14" (18" by 22 1/2" as framed), signed in red at lower left "J. A. McClurg" and dated there with what looks like "1900" or "1908". There's a vintage Denver artists materials sticker on the stretcher, Considering the scene and the sticker, I'm tempted to call this one a Colorado plains/edge of the Rockies picture, in the nineteenth century tradtion of Bierstadt, Worthington Whittredge, Samuel Colman, and so many others in that school......I don't see a listing for this artist, though googling the name as is, one finds several mentions of a J. A. McClurg in Teller County, Colorado (Colorado Springs area), though there's no mention of him in terms of art. The painting has the golden light, the tans and light blue sky, that recalls that western extension of the Hudson River artists. More research is due on this one. Condition includes soiling and about a one inch square in sky that's missing paint and lightly torn through. Frame is gold, has a few losses, has a plaque at bottom with the artist's name. Cleaned, varnished, repaired, with a spotlight on it, I can see this work looking really sharp. SEE HUNDREDS OF OTHER WORKS IN MY SHOP including other Colorado and regional paintings.
