This is an early to mid twentieth century floor throw rug, 37 " by 20", made of scraps of calico-type cotton cloth strips of numerous patterns including floral, plaid, checks, paisley, dots, etc., and some herringbone patterns in wool as from suits. Judging from the textiles and the backing, I would estimate the age as maybe 1930's Great Depression era, but, I can't say for sure. There is sewing machine stitching visible on the reverse to (presumably) hold the strips. The rug is definitely folky and American. It would complement an Americana or Country or Cabin look.
