GENE (EUGENIA) FRANCES BAKER McCOMAS (1886-1982) Northern California artist charcoal drawing tropical scene

This is a masterful drawing with a definite modernist touch, by well listed artist GENE McCOMAS (1886-1982), depicting a tropical house under palms, likely in the South Seas---perhaps Tahiti. The artist was San Francisco-born, and is associated with the Bay Area and the Monterey-Carmel area, but she and her husband traveled extensively and obviously produced art in these exotic locations. She studied with Xavier Martinez and was a muralist, but worked in many media. Her work is sometimes confused with that of her husband Francis John McComas. This drawing is good-sized, at 19 1/2" by 25" (28" by 33" as framed). Condition is excellent. Shipping wizard figures are guesstimates. SEE HUNDREDS OF WORKS OF ART NOW IN MY SHOP.
