Oil on canvas, 12" by 15" and 1" wide frame, signed at lower right with what looks like "S W Poyer" and dated 1913, I believe. This is a nicely painted work showing young coconut palms, painted in an impressionistic manner by an obviously trained artist. I've looked high and low and can't find a listing for such a name or anything similar to it. If anyone is familiar with the artist I'd appreciate an email. The painting was found here in Southern California. Condition: dirty, needs cleaning, stretcher bar shows through at top and right, tiny puncture at upper right, some paint flaking in the final digits of the date. Period frame is worn and would likely need to be replaced. For the collector of Hawaiiana, Floridiana or tropical art, this would make for a fine acquisition; vintage tropical art is hard to find. There is some really nice brush work that would come out with a cleaning and varnish job. Shipping wizard figures are guesstimates. SEE HUNDREDS OF OTHER WORKS NOW IN MY SHOP.
