A nice vintage brass trivet. Made by Virginia Metalcrafters for Williamsburg Restoration, the organization responsible for the creation of what we now know as Colonial Williamsburg. When it was decided to make items to sell to support the restoration, it was decided that they should be exact reproductions of 18th items and that the reproductions should be of the highest quality. Contracts were let to various American manufacturers, and from 1951 until they closed in 2005, Virginia Metalcrafters were the manufacturers of all brass objects.
This trivet is in the form of the cypher of Queen Anne.
Size: 10.5" by 9" by 0.875" tall.
Condition: light surface wear, otherwise fine.
Mark: mold-marked on the back as shown, copyrighted 1950. There's also a small gold foil label reading "Virginia Heritage Brass, Limited Charlottesville", who must have been the retailer of this particular piece.
