Vontury, Inc. was founded by Francis J. von Tury in 1939. He was a leading ceramics engineer, who worked as an advisor for ceramics companies throughout North America and Europe. Some of his developments for these companies (I suspect) filtered back to his own enterprise, as his advances included glaze for porcelain and a one-fire process for vitreous china.
These vases are in white vitreous china, with underglaze decoration of stylized flowers, the colors of which have intentionally run slightly in the firing process. The glaze has a slight, warm yellow cast to it.
Size: they're 7" tall and about 4.75" in diameter at the widest.
Condition: as new, no wear or damage. Though there are some variances in the decoration, the two vases are identical and have obviously been together since they were made.
Mark: inscribed "VonTury" on the bottoms.
Price is for the pair.
