A fine vintage reproduction of a Stiegel-type bottle or flask. This example has a vertical or pillar optic in the glass and is a beautiful, dark Amethyst color. It was made in the 1960s by Pairpoint Glass for the Metropolitan Museum of Art. During this period, the Met, and other American museums were commissioning and selling exact replicas of pieces from their collections from contemporary American glass companies. To assure these reproductions weren't passed off as old, they were permanently marked.
The bottle is 6.25" tall by 4.25" wide by 2.75" deep.
Condition: as new, no wear or damage.
Mark: "MMA" written on the bottom near the pontil with a vibrating engraver.
Reference: Leonard Padgett, "Paripoint Glass". This bottle (and another example) are shown as "flower vases" made for the Met.
