Rorstrand Blue Fire Medium White Oval Serving Bowl
One of our favorite Modern dinnerware patterns, this is Blå Eld ("Blue Fire") by Rörstrand of Sweden. Designed by Hertha Bengtson in 1949, it was produced from 1950 to 1971. It's an interesting pattern, produced in a high-flit pottery body, the pattern was manufactured in two glazes -white and cobalt blue- as part of a single colorway. The decoration of the pattern comes from eccentric shapes of many of the pieces and the herringbone pattern embossed into the surface.
