In the 1920s, there was an increased interest in glassware produced in the 16-18th centuries in Spain, Italy and in the New World. As so frequently happens when a particular form of collectible comes into fashion, reproductions do as well.
This flip vase was made in Czechoslovakia. It is of light green seeded glass, its form intentionally primitive (explaining the bulge in the side) and decorated with matte enamel colors. The decoration is of a ship under full sail at sea.
The vase is 7.375" tall, 5.5" in diameter at the top and 4" at the base.
Condition: wear to the edge of the bottom. 0.125" long loss to the enamel band near the rim. Otherwise fine. Pontil is partially ground out.
Mark: acid stamped Made in Czecho-Slovakia in a circle.
